Visiting a new church can be intimidating. We get it! Our church is a simple, “what you see is what you get” kind of church.
We value eclectic music. We blend new songs with old. On any given Sunday, you’ll see a variety of instruments.
Our pastor typically preaches through a book of the Bible focusing on practical application and service. Our focus is on loving God with everything we’ve got and loving our neighbor as ourselves. We try to keep things pretty simple. We are a Baptist church, but we welcome friends from all denominations as well as those simply seeking God. We’ve included a few Frequently Asked Questions, but please feel free to ask us any questions we haven’t fully answered.
What should I wear?
We actually don’t care what you wear. Typically, our dress is casual, but if you dress up, no one will look at you funny. For us as a community of faith, how we love and how we serve are way more important than what we wear.
When do you meet and how long does it last?
Church services are held every Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. Church typically lasts an hour to an hour and a half. After the service, we have a fellowship time – it’s a great time to hang out, eat some food, and meet somebody new!
Where are you located?
We are located at 390 Fairway Drive in Tahoe City, CA 96145.
Where should I park?
We have several parking spots available in front of the church. However, if the parking lot is full…don’t leave. We have parking available (with a shuttle) at the Public Utility District parking lot less than a quarter mile from the church. Simply drive down Fairway toward HWY 89 and you will see the parking lot across from the fire department. Our shuttle begins at about 8:30am and runs till about 9:15am. If you miss the shuttle, it’s a short walk to the church. We begin running the shuttle back to the parking lot right after the service.
Where should my children go?
We invite the whole family to join in our singing and worship time. After that, we have a children’s time with Pastor Scott at the front of the church – if your children don’t want to come forward, that’s ok. After our children’s time, we invite all of our children to go downstairs for our Kids Club. Kids club is a time of fun, singing, games, crafts, and Bible Story just for kids!! For our smaller children, we have a fully staffed nursery.
Am I expected to put money in the offering plate?
If you are visiting with us, we don’t expect you to put money in the offering, and you are welcome to just let it pass you by. If you consider First Baptist your church home, we’d love for you to prayerfully consider giving to the ministry of First Baptist. Your gifts help us to continue to share God’s love with our community. We also have a safe and secure online giving option available.
So…summer is awesome in Tahoe! Do you have outside church services?
